Based on the CNBC article I read, it's stated that the idea to ban TikTok originated from suspicions of the Chinese government influencing TikTok's owner. Now, lawmakers are proposing a bill forcing social networks to send some data to independent researchers for more transparency. Do you think any of these will be official eventually?

It's been banned from government issued phones. I'm surprised that it was ever allowed in the first place.
I don't use it either, Kilroy. I'm still more of a YouTube gal.- Quote

Then it means politics won. It's not so surprising since politics can also translate into long-term business.
Regardless, social networks should be transparent in handling user data. The external researchers serve a good purpose, but that also means our data is being spread around even further. Who can say that the data will be safe in their hands? Really, the best way to go is to not use social networks at all.- Quote
