If I were to start an e-commerce business, would it be better to have my own website and take care of everything by myself? Or would it be easier to get started in on already established platform like Amazon or Etsy?

I would probably have my own website if I were starting something online. If you get on other platforms, there are a couple of risks:
- You could lose your account over a technicality.
- Your profit margins could be much smaller than with your own website.
This is just my opinion of course

I'd probably use Amazon, mostly so I wouldn't have to handle shipping, which must cost a fortune. I can't imagine fronting the capital for an operation that required me to ship my product.- Quote

I know that gaining instant exposure for our personal, newly-built website is not easy. However, Amazon and similar websites probably have millions of products, so exposure to potential costumers is also not guaranteed. Still, I think there's a higher chance of being found when people put appropriate keywords, so I'd go with the e-commerce platforms as the first step.- Quote
